Popular television sitcom classic Hi-De-Hi! was revived by South Kesteven Acting and Musical Players in March 2023 when they performed a musical stage version of the show at the Bourne Corn Exchange. Following adaptations of other nostalgic TV sitcoms including ‘Allo ‘Allo in 2022, The Vicar of Dibley in 2019 and Fawlty Towers in 2012, Hi-De-Hi! is based on the 1980s family sitcom and centres around the adventures of the staff at Maplins holiday camp in the late 1950s.
The play begins at the start of the holiday season in 1959 and founder Joe Maplin is setting up a camp in the Bahamas and the annual 'Miss Yellowcoat' competition will decide which Yellowcoats get to work there Jeffrey Fairbrother that she is the ideal candidate for the job. Camp Comic Ted is forced to employ numerous money-making schemes when his ex wife turns up at the up at the camp with a bailiff in tow and ballroom dancers Yvonne and Barry Stuart-Hargreaves send the rumour mill into its usual overdrive when Welsh sports organisor Gladys is overheard escorting Jeffrey into his chalet late one evening...
